White Clothing
White clothing is needed for quite a few religous purposes: Blessings, Baptisms, LDS Temple Clothing. This clothing is special and serves both ceremonial and sentimental purposes. These clothes are treasured by parents and children alike.
This year I was asked to make my niece a dress for her baptism. I was excited to make it for her. When it was completed the finished dress was beautiful and the process of making it was quite fulfilling. She was excited to have a special dress of her very own to be baptised in.
It's very tempting to think about these items as something that doesn't need to last. People often think "they're only going to wear it once". However, making these pieces of clothing to stand the test of time is important.
I think it's important that this clothing be made with special care, and that it's built to last. These clothes are often passed down from generation to generation. My sons were both blessed in outfits which were puchased for their father. One of them he wore when blessed and the other was purchased but never used.
